Help - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a coin and a commemorative or medallion?
  • While the word coin can be used as an all-encompassing term, the accepted difference is that a coin is money and therefore has a monetary value emblazoned on it. Alternately, commemoratives or medallions are usually commemorative or celebratory and do not display this numerical value.
What is the difference between bullion, rare and collectible coins?
  • Bullion coins are minted in large numbers and therefore have no numismatic value.  As such, they are worth their weight in gold and any premium that you pay will be for the minting and distribution. As a general rule, the price of bullion coins will fluctuate along with the precious metal’s price.

Rare and collectible coins and medallions are minted in limited numbers and therefore are further exposed to the forces of supply and demand. The premium you pay on these coins is for their relative scarcity and exclusivity. As time goes by and the availability of the rare item decreases, its value increases. This is because collectors are willing to pay a higher price to attain it.
What is numismatics?
  • Numismatics is the collection and study of currency, including coins, paper money, tokens and medals.
What are proof coins?
  • Proof coins are made from the highest quality gold, they are specially manufactured and are sold at a premium. Proof coins are generally distinguishable from ordinary coins by their mirror like fields, frosty appearance and very sharp details.

To obtain these qualities, each proof coin is polished to produce an extremely smooth surface. Modern proof coins are packaged in clear plastic to protect them from everyday wear and tear from handling and exposure to moisture that might cause damage.
What is a Krugerrand?
  • The Krugerrand is a South African gold coin, first minted in 1967 to help market South African gold. It is minted from gold alloy that is 91.67% pure (22 karats). Krugerrands are available in 4 denomindations: 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz and a 1oz.

How do I know if my order was successful?
  • If your order is successful, you will receive an email stating that you have made a purchase online.
How do I know whether you have a product in stock?
  • We hold stock of all our products. Sometimes products do go out of stock and there is a short time lapse before we can update the website. In this case, when you try to put the product in your basket, you will receive an 'out of stock' message.

When you confirm your purchase, we carry out a second stock check to ensure that we have not sold the last item while you were entering your payment details.

In the unlikely event that you are able to submit an order for a product that is out of stock, we will contact you immediately by e-mail or telephone.
How long will delivery take?
  • Delivery takes approximately 5-7 working days to any destination in the world, providing that there is stock available.
How much is the delivery charge?
  • Delivery is free worldwide and it is also fully insured.

You can fill in all the requirements and delivery address at this point. Remember to put the name of the person who you want it delivered to, as they will need to sign for the product/s.
What happens if there is an error when I place an order?
  • We strive at all times to make sure that everything does go through smoothly and that the website is up 24 hours a day. In the event that you do get an error, money is not deducted from your credit card at the time of placing the order. We only authorise the payment once we ship the goods. Please advise us via the contact us  section of the website with as much detail as possible about the error and we will immediately investigate what caused it and resolve it for you. In most cases, your errors will be caused by unrecognised characters in your listed address such as & '~ and # for example. First, try to remove these characters and process your request again. Most unsuccessful transactions on our website will give you a clearly defined reason such as “invalid card date” or “Card Limit exceeded” for example.
