Countdown to London 2012 Gold 3 Coin Set was specially created for the occasion by the British Royal Mint and will be a lasting reminder of this historic event. This London 2012 set consists of four
£5 gold coins:
- 2009 - Depicts the Olympic sport of swimming with the figure 3 overlaid to denote the first year of the countdown (4,000 mintage)
- 2010 - Athletics with the figure 2 overlaid (3,000 mintage)
- 2011 - Cycling with the figure 1 overlaid (3,000 mintage)
- 2012 - The final coin in this set depicts three triumphant medallists on the winners’ podium, the ultimate dream of every Olympian
These beautifully crafted keepsakes by the Bristish Royal Mint feature a border symbolising a bird’s eye view of the new stadium, a countdown ‘clock’ and the London 2012 Olympic logo highlighted in colour.

British Royal Mint in a four coin case featuring the London 2012 logo on the magnetic clasp. The final gold coin could be added in 2012 to complete the Countdown Collection.
