Royal Engagement Alderney 5 Pound Gold Proof Crown was minted in 22 carat gold by the British Royal Mint. The
gold coin, also known as the
William and Catherine Royal Engagement coin, has a limited mintage of 1,000 and is proof quality. This
gold coin is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The thrill of a royal wedding to come swept the nation with the announcement that Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton were engaged. The very first coin ever to be struck by the Royal Mint for a royal engagement, this lovely coin with its unusual double portrait designed by our own engraver, Matthew Bonaccorsi, is inspired by the informal mood between the couple in many happy photographs. The Alderney Engagement £5 Crown, just like the Royal Wedding £5 Coin, has been approved by the Royal Household.
This is the first coin struck by the Royal Mint for a royal engagement and features a double portrait with Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton. The obverse features the Queen’s portrait.
